Who we are
Nifty Option Chain (niftyoptionchain.in) is run by Shimtools. Shimtools decides what personal data this site collects and why, which makes it the Data Fiduciary under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. For questions, requests and grievances, write to hello@shimtools.com.
What we collect and why
Reading the lessons and using the sample chain needs no account and asks nothing about you. The site has no email list, no signup and no forms, and we store no personal data ourselves: nothing you do here is saved by us. The only personal data involved is what our hosting provider records when your browser loads a page, and what Google Analytics measures, both described below.
Analytics
We use our hosting provider’s cookieless analytics to count page views and to measure how fast pages load. They record the page you view, the site you came from, your approximate location (country, region and city), your browser, operating system and device type, your network speed, and how quickly the page loaded. They can link your page views together for a day at most, and never to your name. We use them to see which lessons are read and how fast pages load, and we look at them only as totals.
Google Analytics
We also use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed and for how long, the site you came from, your device and browser, and an approximate location worked out from your IP address. It sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_<id>, which last up to two years and tell a returning browser apart from a new one. We have turned off its advertising and personalisation features, and it receives page addresses without anything after a “?”. For visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland it sets no cookies. To stop it everywhere, install Google’s opt-out add-on.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps logs of requests to the site (such as the IP address, the page requested and the browser) for security and troubleshooting, under its own policies.
Cookies
The site itself sets no cookies. Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id> (up to two years) to tell returning visits apart, except for visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland. Our hosting provider’s analytics work without cookies, and we load no advertising cookies. Switching between English and Hindi stores nothing.
Who processes it
Two service providers handle personal data for us, as our Data Processors: our hosting provider, which serves the site, runs the cookieless analytics and keeps the request logs; and Google, for Google Analytics. Your data may be processed outside India. We do not sell or rent it, and we share it with no one else unless the law requires us to.
How long it is kept
Our hosting provider keeps analytics and request logs for a limited time under its own policies. Google Analytics keeps its data for at most 14 months. We keep no copy of our own.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:
- ask for a summary of the personal data processed about you and how it is used;
- have it corrected, completed or updated;
- have it erased;
- nominate someone to use these rights for you if you die or become unable to;
- have a grievance heard and resolved.
Email hello@shimtools.com. We reply within 7 days. Because we hold no personal data ourselves, and the analytics record no name, email address or account, there is usually nothing we can link to you; we will tell you what we can find. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
Children
This site is meant for adults. It asks nothing about you and has nothing to sign up for, so we knowingly collect no personal data from anyone under 18.
Security
Every page is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). The site has no forms or accounts and stores no personal data itself.
